Literature: What's the point

The more I read in school the more depressing the books get so i ask my teacher what the deal was and she was like deep literature explores human nature and human nature isn't always bright. Well that answer ticked me off therefor I denounce literature because all it is, is a bunch of pansy's hiding secret messages in their writing to make points. I'm getting kind of tired of everything in the story having symbolism, it's frustrating, especially in novels like lord of the flies where everything has a symbol. Here's a tip: if you have something to say. say it!
